Wadi Bani Khalid: Famed for Its Natural Beauty

Wadi Bani Khalid is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Oman. It may be a couple of hundred kilometers away from the city, paying a visit to this place, witnessing its natural pools and sleek mountain rock formation, giving it a go is a double yes!

The place is not only for people who are adventure seekers but also for traveling families who love to go for a picnic surrounded by nature.

We went to Wadi Bani Khalid right after we checked out from Arabian Oryx Camp. It was a 30-45 minutes drive. A 4-wheel drive is not a must as we travel by a small car.

  • Apply sunscreen. Tan lines are fine but sunburn? Na ah!
  • A flashlight. Having one is a must if you are planning to go inside the Muqil Cave.
  • Bring a camera or a cell phone. Because we do not want to miss a thing, do we?
  • Bring a waterproof bag. Even if we like to hold our gadgets to snap a shot, there will be times that our hands should be free.
  • Bring something to eat along the walk and plenty of water. Life is better when we are hydrated and when tummy is happy.
  • Wear appropriate footwear. The way tends to get rocky and slippery at the same time.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and swimwear. Natural pools present are hard to resist.
  • And most importantly, do not throw your trash anywhere. Keep it with you until you are out of the setting. The Oman municipality is not responsible for it and so the other tourists. Leave the place the way you expect it to see.
